Azam Mohammed is a Partner at McKinsey & Company, and leads McKinsey’s work in Global Energy and Materials in Southeast Asia.
He supports clients on a range of issues, including strategy, operational transformations, “mega project” acceleration, and leadership
Azam frequently speaks at leading industry gatherings on the dynamics of the energy industry, including forums organized by Indonesia
Petroleum Association, the International Indonesia Gas Conference, the Oil & Gas Council, and the World Economic Forum. He is an author
of "The next frontier for digital technologies in oil and gas” and "The construction productivity imperative".
Since joining McKinsey in 2003, Azam has worked extensively in the energy sector, with oil and gas exploration-and-production (E&P)
companies, including leading national and international oil companies, entrepreneurial independent oil companies, mining companies, and
independent power producers. He serves these organizations on holistic-growth and transformation agendas to help them achieve sustainable
improvement at scale.
Some of Azam’s recent work includes helping to develop the corporate and capital strategy for an integrated energy company and implementing
a transformation and restructuring program; advising a National Oil Company on a gas strategy and a road map for gas infrastructure for the
country; and helping one of the world’s largest mining companies with operational and commercial transformation programs.
Azam holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a BE in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Bangalore
