ABB’s Power Grids Division
Venu Nuguri is the President of ABB’s Power Grids Division, responsible for South Asia, Middle East and Africa.
Venu spearheads the Power Grids strategy for the region, leveraging synergies to create business value for customers with
ABB’s pioneering power technology. He is a member of the Power Grids Global Management Team.
A veteran in the energy domain, Venu has over 30 years’ experience and has held
several leadership roles at ABB, in diverse aspects of the business. Prior to his
current role, he was the President of the Power Systems division in India and
member of the global power systems leadership team. In earlier roles, he was
also part of the country management team for India in varous capacities
including Country Head for sales and marketing. Venu began his career in 1988
with English Electric (now GEC Alstom) in Chennai.
He is an active member of various professional bodies including India Smart
Grid Foundation, Cigre, IEEE and IEEMA. Venu has addressed several forums
including Asia Clean Energy Summit, India Smart Grids Week, and CEPSI and has
published several articles on the future of power and digitalisation of the power
Venu is a graduate in electrical engineering from National Institute of
Technology (NIT), Warangal and has attended various management courses at
Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), Indian School of Business
(ISB), Hyderabad and International Institute of Management Development
