Sharbini Suhaili was appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Energy in November 2016. He steers the vertically integrated electricity utility and energy development company responsible for the generation, transmission, distribution and retail of electricity to serve over 630,000 customers and a population of over 2.6 million throughout the state of Sarawak.
Prior to this, Sharbini was the Vice President of Group Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) of PETRONAS where he provided stewardship in the area of HSSE’s system, governance and frameworks, standards, assurance and competency development in creating value for the company.
Sharbini has over 30 years of experience in the energy industry, including in upstream production, asset development, planning, strategy and commercial as well as business development, with vast international business relationship, including four years in The Hague, Holland.
His experience with indigenous communities such as the First Nations in Canada, affected by projects during his tenure in Shell and PETRONAS, makes him a strong supporter and driver for sustainability.
Sharbini holds a degree in Engineering (Hons) from University of Leeds, United Kingdon and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Henley Management College, United Kingdom.
